I'm assuming by the number of sensible answers that it's too soon for Atherton gags?

deffinately over the ear hookie thingies! the rubber buds and normal plastic ones slip out after a while so you're then left with cables dangling!

I have the over ear type, they fall out until I get sweaty (nice!), and they interfere with my sunglasses arms. Could do with a decent quality set, watching this thread with interest!
(I wear mine on the road because I'm quite mad!)

    I use these: http://store.apple.com/uk/product/TU407 ... Mjc0MzI2Nw

Only problem is the cable could do with being just 2" longer. Other than that, the fit is excellent with three different in-ear buds to help you find the best fit, rich sound quality at this price level and they also seem to work when covered in mud/sweat etc.
  • I use in-ear ones, but thread the cord through my stretched ear lobes. That way, if they do fall out, I can get them back in easier!
  • Sennheiser in ear jobs come with different size buds so you can adjust the fit.Mine stay put,and sound damn good too. Can`t remeMber what model they are but I will post later If I can find them.

I use a noise-reducing (ie, sealed) pair of in-ears, the insulating mushroom keeps them in better, though of course the noise cancellation could be a disadvantage for you (silences those drivetrain grinding noises!)

I use Sony MDR-EX85's for riding and for general purpose, interesting design which ensures they don't come out by themselves....were dirt cheap at Play.com - £15! 8)
  • i just use the original ones that came with my ipod

I guess it's not recommended to use headphones when cycling on the road?

I plan to cycle to work with my new mountain bike. Will be on a dual carraigeway (with a cycle lane). Not sure headphones are a good idea, could block out some important noises!

There are various theories on this. For me, I reckon I'm much more optically aware if I've got my music on, and tend to over-shoulder check more often than if I'm not wearing phones, can be quite dangerous to rely too much on your hearing IMO. That said I don't ride in heavy traffic, mostly B roads and off-road of course.

I use Shure SE210 earphones. Earbud type but with nice big rubber end bits that compress into the shape of your inner ear. Noise isolating. They stay in very, very well and sound great. Not cheap though.

Bought a pair of these after reading a review in the Guardian sports issue:

    http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electro ... oduct.html

Still waiting to arrive, but at £15.99 instead of normal £35 it isn't a bad deal (higher rated that some £60 headphones)

    i use these:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-DR-BT22IK- ... B0013LL3R4

they is cool but only work with ipods[/url]
  • Try SONY BT 21's. Same as the 22's, but the band goes around the back of your head, thus clearing you helmet. Sound great with ipod, walkman, mobile and even good for comms when having a blast with brothers in arms from across the pond on the PS3.

They are bluetooth and when fully charged seem to last forever. Hope this helps.

PS Argos had them on halfbat for £40 with a dongle for ipod. married up fine to my Nokia phone and PS3 no problem. Sound great.
