Has anyone ridden from Glenfinnan to Inverie in Knoydart via Glenfinnan Lodge/Strathan/Glen Dessary/Sourlies/Carnoch/Glen Meadall?
From the description in the latest edition of "Scottish Hill Tracks" is sounds as though some sections should be rideable but others are very rough. Any info gratefully received.

No. But MemoryMap shows a heck of a lot of climbing. Staff from MBR magazine about ten years ago cycled from Loch Lochy and along the second half of the route you suggest. They said it was their toughest ever cycle. Some of the paths on OS didn't exist. Territory was hostile with little shelter from the elements. They did manage it but recommended readers not to tackle it. Think they used some journalistic licence in saying they got from A to B without support. However, they did revisit Inverie about five years ago, this time by ferry. Their feature showed the bikes loaded on to the tiny boat from Mallaig, along with kegs of beer for the Inverie Inn, Scotland's most westerly pub. The Inverie road, I believe, is unique in that it starts nowhere and goes nowhere - a strip of tar that cars can't reach. Maybe MBR will have archives on the Inverie stuff. Would love to go - but couldn't manage the climbing and bike-carrying. Keep us posted. Take pictures if you go.
