pitch pro is almost a stumpjumper 150 - i.e. better suited for the rough stuff.

Standard advice applies, try to ride them and see what you get on with best. Even if it's just round a car park it may help your decision.

I love my Pitch but also really like the look of the lapierre zestys - think Pitches are getting hard to get hold of in some sizes now.

Personally I found the stumpjumper a little dull but you need to try them.

Dont forget to check the 08 Stumpjumper comp out, it is the same as 09 apart from colour and can be had for £1200.
  • Roscoe when it comes out?
  • I've got an 08 Stumpy Elite. Very good bike, very competent, more competent then I am at any rate. I ride in Derbyshire (peak district mostly) and occasionally nip to my local trail centre so it does get a fair amount of rough treatment but it's never missed a beat.

It's the kind of bike you'd happily ride all day. You never hear a bad word against a Stumpy.

    Get a Pitch Pro
  • The pitch pro is a fantastic deal at £1173.99. I looked on the evans website earlier, and they only have them in medium size. The other 3 sizes are sold out. I'm expecting to see a lot of pitch pro's out on the trails this year.

The inevitable stock answer! Sometimes a bike with that amount of travel isn't suitable. If the OP rides mostly XC trail with the odd bit of rougher stuff then 150mm of travel is overkill - the better bet would be a Stumpy or similar as on a day-to-day basis the weight penalty for the oversized frame/components etc outweighs the occasional benefit of the additional travel.

A few years ago I bought an Enduro Comp thinking I'd use the travel but I soon found out I was lugging a load of extra weight around that I simply didn't need - the bike was simply the wrong tool for the job.
  • Zesty 314 is a great bike they ride even nicer than they look. Thats saying a lot as they look stunning! If your after value have a look at the Giant Trance X as well.
  • Cheers guys and gals ive ordered a Zesty 314 cant wait for it to come.
  • would've said the cannondale prophets might also be useful, but hope you enjoy the zesty :) How much did you pay for it ?
