Bex, my girlfriend, has size 9 feet. I'd ask her for footwear advice but unless you want to end up cycling in heels she probably won't have many tips :)

It's not that bad, but I am conscious of having gained a few lbs!!

Just 'cause I can't use my bike doesn't mean I can't buy stuff...

I have recently obtained a carry-on-limits-sized case which is both a rucksack and a trolley bag - mainly because I need both at the minute for crutches/no crutches occasions - and realised that I can use it to cycle to work even if I'm travelling, or even cycle to heathrow! Hurrah!

Now, for some reason, I am of the opinion that you can buy things to clip on to SPD pedals so you can use them as flat pedals too - true? If so what are they called?

Also, I would like some waterproof cycling boots - road style preferably, but not effing dangerous ice skate things!!

    Any input?? Thanks!

My wife has the same philosophy: Broken ankle, but still buys £600 pair of "tottering" shoes.......whats is more miffing is the fact that we are not going to a dinner/white tie event for a while, something I am not being told maybe

Not my bedroom, only surprise would be to find the pile of clothes oin the corner of the room put away......with 2 kids and a pup, surprises are limited, bills are big and the only peace is when I am asleep or pretending that I am asleep!

    Northwave do waterproof cycling boots.

hmmmm but I can't find them anywhere where they are in stock...

    Bad idea. Expensive, heavy, hot.

Overshoes, LiT, overshoes. You can get silver ones from BBB if you want bling.

However if you simply want to drop a load of money to make the winter pass quicker as your foot gets better, then Sidi are always able to assist you in adding cost.

I have the northwave ones and they are great for winter riding especially in the wet...

I do covet those sidi ones though

Well then, the pedals thing seems to be dealt with, I will pop along to the LBS and ask them very nicely for some of them clippy doobrees...
    !

If you're planning on popping these on and off as and when you need them be aware they are a real pain in the backside to get off the pedal. Or maybe I'm just feeble.
  • I have sidi goretex ones for the winter which are absolutely great, and fairly stiff along the ankle. I got the spd version. About a million times better than overshoes. They seem to keep the toes warm in winter and not too hot in spring (with woolie boolie socks). Highly recommended. My other sidis have proved very durable.
