Annoying 'ticking' noise

Yeah yeah ... I know ... how can I expect to get a definitive answer to a non-specific ticking problem??!!
But I'll try anyway ...
Noticed on my commute home at the end of last week an occasional ticking noise ... and then coming in this morning (first time I've been on the bike since) that it was much more regular.
It happens once every pedal stroke ... seems to be coming from the non-drive side ... is present under less than full pedal pressure but tends to disappear when full pressure is applied. Its still there on or out of the saddle ... not there when free-wheeling.
My guess is crankset / bottom bracket / pedal. Initially, I thought it was the crank catching on the end of the cable for the front mech, (that's what it sounds like) but that is well clear of the crank / pedal etc.
I have the pedals (shimano m520's) set on their loosest setting, so could it be to do with that?
The bike is a BeOne Storm 2.0, is brand new (2 weeks), and the pedals are new too, so its unlikely to be anything worn out or broken. It does however have nearly two weeks of commuting grime, so could it be mucky water leaking into the thread of the BB or something? There doesn't appear to be any looseness in the drivechain (although I will check and re-tighten everything)
Thoughts or suggestions?

Here's the link I gave to this question last time. It's probably something very simple and easy to fix.

I had a similar noise, turned out to be the saddle rail bolt (the one that you tighten to grip the saddle rails). Took it apart, cleaned up, tightened up tight. Sorted.0
