A mate of mine has lost the split pins that hold the pads in a set of deore brakes, been looking round the bike sites and they are about a quid each!! I had a look at some cotter pins on ebay, and you can get 100 for less than a fiver!! just out of interest does anybody know the length of the shimano split pins so we can get some ordered??

Any decent hardware store or engineer's merchants will be able to supply you with split pins - you might need to buy 100, but even so it won't cost you anything like a pound each!!

I use slightly shorter and slightly thinner ones than what came with the brakes, makes it ten times easier to swap pads during a ride, just a thought.

    I can't get over a £1 each!

I've always just pinched mine from work.
  • yeah, theres no wayany sane person would pay a quid for one, so 35mm cotter pin should do the job....lovely
