I bought the bike 2 weeks ago from my local Halfords after a bit of research and visiting a couple of "proper" bike shops. The first time out i got a puncture. Without thinking i flipped the bike over and removed the wheel and fixed the puncture. Unfortunately i forgot about the remote lockout lever which sticks up above level of the handle bars like a sore thumb. The housing for the lever snapped so now the forks won't stay in the locked position. I phoned my local halfords and explained what had happened. A couple of days later with no reply i popped in. Apparently the housing that is broken is not an available spare part and the whole lever, cable AND forks need replacing. I asked Halfords to reconsider this advice and am waitin to hear. Has anyone else had a similar problem and how did you fixit. I noticed on the 2 display models in the shop that the lever is different and is mounted so that it sits below the level of the handlebars.

Thanks Mate, Phoned Greyville who were very helpful, you can get the lever and cable separate for £20. Halfords rang me back this morning and are replacing it FOC :D

Glad it all worked out for you M8,there is really nothing worse than trying to find small parts. :D
  • Told you not to buy from Halfords :D !!

Tell em the bit where the guy in Halfords told you that you should not change a puncture by turning your bike upside down but should use a maintenance stand, come on you must have seen them all lying around at sherwood pines.

Top name jelly belly, fits like a glove. You need to get down Sherwood Pines a bit more (not for the bacon sarnies either)

They're giving him a free replacement for a bit he broke himself, doesn't sound too bad to me...

But would happily have sold hime a new set of forks instead of replacing a £20.00 part, not so good in my book.
