Bike maintenance training

Morning all
Just wondering if anyone knows where I can get some training in basic bike maintenance? I'm based in Liverpool but am having trouble finding somewhere that does this within reasonable distance. I love cycling and can sort out punctures but (hangs head in shame, etc) very little else and as an independent laydee and all that I hate having to rely on 'im indoors to sort stuff out for me! Also, people seem to get lots of satisfaction from bike er...tweaking and I wanna get me some of that.
Any thoughts?

I went on a two-day course at Downland Cycles in Canterbury. I guess that's too far for you to travel but here's the link just in case:

You know, that's totally true. I get almost as much satisfaction with DIY maintenance as I do with riding
Edinburgh Bicycle do maintenance courses and the nearest to you in Manchester, they're run on weekends.

I'm always happy to help out with repairs if you can get the bike to me on the Wirral, but I understand if you're interested in learning yourself0 -
In Leicester the best courses are run by Bikes4All who are a part of the Groundworks group, which I THINK are a national environmental organisation.0

Thanks guys, that's really helpful. I'll definitely look into both of those course providers, and will probably get the book as a reference for afterwards. Cheers"I think the phrase rhymes with Clucking Bell"

Or the there is a list of training locations at the ctc. I'm not sure if you need to be a member or not .

I bought a box of tool, a maintenance book and a bike stand and taught myself.
Much cheaper than a course and much more satisfying...only thing I haven't done yet is build a wheel.

Same as Exeter Simon - Just stripped a bike down and had a go. Basics are use loads of coppaslip when you re-build and only weld Aluminium if you are confident!! All other metal work issues can be resolved with the ever trusty angle grinder.....0
