Goodbye huge bulky backpack :D hello work stuff gently rattling away behind me (I find it strangely satisfying, my only guess why is it makes the bike feel more substantial) and a back that stays dry. 8)

I like my panniers too. By taking the weight below the centre of gravity they also increase your stability.

Motorcyclist at work called me a "girl" for using panniers. I gently explained that I only a fool would buy a horse and then carry the goods himself - unless that person was an Ass :) .

Yep, Panniers rule. They do look geeky and make the bike look a bit less sexy but for pure function they're awesome.

Plus scalping people with two (clearly full) panniers on your bike for them to look at rules. Not that I scalp many people but it does happen occasionally.

...have to agree panniers are the best way to carry stuff on a bike...

...and I don't care if they don't look cool...
...all the way...'til the wheels fall off and burn...

I do care, but I still use them as they're just so bloody useful.

I'm getting one of these 'rack pack' wotsits on my forthcoming bike - Agu Yamaska 475 - can expand the side pockets to hang down too if I want even more room so it starts looking a little pannier-like then...

    Neat though. Like it.

As one with an FCN which betrays my ability by a long way I would welcome the addition of panniers....

... only trouble is I have no way of putting them on the bike :?
Emerging from under a big black cloud. All help welcome
  • I love my panniers, I really do. I also love the rack, and bungee-ing or sellotaping large, impractical things to it...

I also love overtaking people while said large and impractical things are attached to my bike...
