Watching his speach as I type

It's a good thing. Glad he's President. I feel amazed. Thought I'd never see the day. It's a good thing.

    Tear in my eye.

  • His saddle is too low.

His rear tyre needs air (even allowing for the trailer).

He's in the granny ring on the front.

He's about to ride onto the pavement.

Why have the Secret Service given the guy in the grey car a clear line of fire? Tsk tsk.

And Ker-rhist, could that stem be any gheyer?

The bike's far too small for him.
  • It's all well and good, a definite improvement, but he's not going to be able to save America in 4 years.

The world is setting itself up for a disappointment.

And yes, the bike is too small.

He just needs elbow and knee pads to complete the look.

I'm sure this is how Irish Catholics felt when JFK was elected. To think Hilary Clinton's advisors thought he was an also-ran in the first Primary and didnt take him seriously as a prospect.

I remember only too well the joy when Thatcher went and the hope a couple of years later when Labour was elected.

They told us things could only get better.

EDIT Anyone else think the bike would have been selected by a focus group to appeal to a particular demographic. Now where's that cynical emoticon when you need it.

I'm looking at the first black American President. Anything is possible.

I'm not expecting him to save America, I'm not expecting anything. Fact that he is President is enough.

Just as long as he isn't crap, an embarrassment, does stupid things or becomes a Bush like threat to the World.

  • Obama is a good man in my opinion, it's just that I think the West's days of dominance are over. Time to buy gold and welcome our new Chinese overlords methinks.

Well, being american I can't say in strong enough terms how relieved I am to be rid of that ass-clown, (sorry but I can't restrain myself) Bush Jr. Obama is not a magician but he has far more intelligence and understanding of the human condition than G.W. and his gang have ever displayed. Things can only get better. :D

why is it so great that a rich man is president? Really race should be irrelevant competency should be the only criteria, so I will hold my excitement until he actually accomplishes something. Dont think the second coming of christ would have got as much adolation.

    Watched his speech this morning

It occurred to me that this is the first time, in my lifetime, that Americans have voted an 'Intelligent' man into the Whitehouse

  • Listening to the radio yesterday they said that Obama was the first ever black president.

'No he's not' I thought to myself, 'there was his brother'.

Realised I've been watching WAY too much 24  :D

That's what Blair said in 1997 and things certainly have not got better for me

Running a country (especially one like that) must surely be one of the worst jobs in the world.

Except perhaps running a school when OFSTED come a-knocking

I'll stick to making the tea in life, I think :)

Wouldn't hold my breath if the way he maintains his bike is a reflection of the way he intends to run the country

    still only one.

Now 'what's his FCN?' that's the real question. Unfortunately, we don't have a modifier for surrounding yourself with Secret Service personnel.

His race has nothing to do with how well I think (or others I've spoken to) he will do at being President. That will come down to the measure of the man.

However, growing up with a distinct lack of Black role models, seeing a Obama reach the very top (albeit in America) is inspiring to me, as it is to many of my family and friends. That is where the adulation resides.

And, Jesus was black. Lol. I don't really have an opinion on that one...

To the IT guy deep in the bowels of FBI HQ

I hereby distant myself from any and all postings regarding the scalping of the newly elected Commander in Chief

    God Bless America

    God Bless the President
