doesnt fit my titanium railed saddle properly and so doesnt sit right
and rattles about alot.

The Topeak range is good. I am a bit wary of the clip on type since I had a clip break leaving the bag dangling from the seat post. The strap on ones are great though, a small one would be enough for what you want to carry.

I've got the Topeak Micro. Small enough to be discreet, but can hold quite a bit.
I've got a tube, repair kit, 3x levers, gas pump and topeak mini18 tool in.
This is one available on ebay.

I got a Topeak one for christmas; clip on thing seems pretty good. I got the large size and it takes a tube, puncture kit, multitool and a phone easily.
  • topeak wedge it is then, thanks guys.

I have Topeak ones, but I like this better

    phantom01.gif

It is a Scicon Phantom 230, mine takes an inner tube, multitool with chain tool, tyre levers, patches.

    There is a larger one,

The Scicon Compact 430 (figures relate to capacity in ml)

They have a unique fitting system so the bag just attaches with a twist, it is low profile and very quick and secure. It doesn't attach to the seatpost. Best thing was I emailed Scicon asking to buy a second fitting system for another bike and they sent one free of charge.

They come in black, blue, grey, pink, red, silver, see them here.

I've had two brackets (the part on the bag) break on Topeak Wedges (large). The first was in a crash so I though fair enough and bought another one. That lasted less than a week before breaking on a rough bit of road.

I replaced that one with a strap on version which seems much better.

That reminds me... if anyone wants an extra bracket (the bit that goes on the saddle) for a Wedge then I have two going spare. Free to a good home.

As a tip, if your computer appears to freeze up don't repeatedly hit the mouse button in the hope that that will somehow persuede it in to action. It dosn't work and only leads to trouble.

Hope this isn't too late. I've got a clip on Topeak and looked around to replace it because the bar you bolt on to the saddle inhibits the downward movement of the saddle, in my case a Toupe. Then I found on the internet that the they make a special bar for racing saddles which works perfectly. No one seems to know about this, certainly not my LBS or Cycle Surgery.

The advantages of this bag over the others like the very expensive Scicon, is that you can attach a rear light to it. I have damaged the paint work on my frame with a rear light bracket and when attaching it to the seat post it is obscured by the saddle bag. I also looked at a Lezeene bag which was too flimsy to attach a light. The Topeak I have isn't the very smallest one so I can fit in my Crank Bros tyre tool. Finally, when I have to leave the hack padlocked somewhere the quick release makes it easy to remove the bag.

Mine broke in the same place I think the problem is overloading them (easy with the large one). You hit a bump and it just snaps. I also have spare brackets for both types of saddle if anybody wants one.

I think you're right. The clip is probably fine on the small bags but isn't up to the job on the larger ones. I got my money back anyway so it wasn't a problem.

I like the Carradice SQR system, but even their smallest bag might be a bit big for you.
  • thanks for the advice, i ordered a medium size topeak wedge(with strap). hopefully it will be just the right size to carry a inner tube, a multitool, 2 tyre levers and maybe a co2 pump aswell.

You'll definately get that little lot in it, I can fit that into my Micro Wedge, so you will have no worries.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Lezyne yet - seriously well thought out saddle bags available in various sizes. Great velcro fitting system so you can still compress the bag down and prevent rattling. Compartments inside the bag for tyre levers, patches, cash and one outside the bag (on the bottom) for a multitool (although I tend to use it for gels / bars and put the tool inside the bag). Not too pricey either.

Available from CRC and Wiggle, called the caddy, IIRC.

I've got Scion 430 bag, and although it's expensive, the fitting mechanism is fantastic, and it reckon it'll last years and years. The smaller version would be a bit too extreme for me, I like the breathing room the 430 has, so I stick a few (small) things in it if my pockets are full.
