Sky Sport's Aussie pictures distorted?

Did anybody notice that Sky's coverage of the tour Down Under prelude was broadcast at the wrong ratio? I'm on Virgin and the whole thing was stretched upwards, like it should have been widescreen but was broadcast in the old ratio.

For what it's worth I have an old ratio telly, which puts the black bars in whenever a widescreen signal is received - so this was not a case of the settings on the actual TV being wrong... flicking over to BBC brought the bars up for their usual widescreen progammes.

Just wondering!

    was fine on mine apart from the few mins that there was a technical fault

    Mine was all wrong as well, and I have Sky+, I can just change the aspect ratio on the TV, so just did this and it was fine.

    Hmm, thanks for your responses folks.

    I wonder what was going on? i couldn't even 'force' the picture into widescreen through the Virgin settings - and as I said other channels were widescreen at the same time as and when they needed to be.

    Bloody technology!
