whats the crack with this?

my brakes and shifters are apparently compatible but i can see how

    it replaces the rear clamping plate for the brakes. it then allows you to remove the clamping band on the sram shifter and attach it direct to the match maker.

    ahhh, so the matchmaker bit is bought seperately?
