Carbon Forks in a crash
Hi
The other day I went down on my Trek 1.5. Luckily I was going slowly, so the bike basically just fell over. It skidded on some horrible muddy crap on the road. What I want to know is, are the carbon forks likely to be damaged. It didn't land on them at all, and only the weight of the bike really fell. What are the chances of having badly damaged them? They seem fine.
Cheers

i'm sure they are fine - they are tougher than you think and if there are no gouges out of them then I'd put them out of your mind.
any other damage? - to you or bike?0 -
Take your wheel out and check thoroughly for damage.
I saw a full carbon bike that had been down the road that looked fine, on removal of the rear wheel the chain stays could be pulled apart by about 3 inches. It had cracked on the bottom bracket area.
Better to be safe than sorry so check it properly.0 -

On that front, the bike is fine, other than a bit damage to the bar tape and cosmetic stuff to the STI's, brand new 105 which was a shame.
I have a nice but on my chin, a bruised jaw, and some broken teeth. Curtesy of landing on my chin.Other than that, nothing wrong.
Basically, the fork did not take any direct impact at all. They look absolutely fun, no damage visible whatsover. And they make the same sound if you tap them all the way around. Which is good.0
