I think that's what it's called?
Sorry as you can see from my posts i'm new to the scene.
I've recentlly just purchased a Rockhopper 08.
Thanks to some of you on here for the advice.
The bike didn't come with a ring to protect the large sprocket by the pedals.
Is this what the protective ring is called?
I'm thinking of getting one because I had problems in the past with a bike not being fitted with one and then ripping a hole in my trousers.
Thanks in advance.

most bikes do not come with trouser guards.
a Bash ring is to protect the rings from damage from rock and logs etc."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Can I get one?
Will it do any harm?
Thanks

Most replace the big ring... TBH you need cycle clips, not a bash ring/chain guard, if you're worried about your trousers.Uncompromising extremist0

here are some examples: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Cate ... oryID=12770

You can get one that protects all 3 rings - see here: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=3953
unless I'm completely wrong?! :oops:0 -
Not only does it protect the chainring, more importantly it should protect the back of your leg from the chain ring when you have an off, I've got some cracking puncture scars over the years.
Not sure my missus would understand when she sees a 'big ring protector' on my credit card bill though!!Be happy, communicate happiness.0 -
