Hi folks, got a problem......

Got an 04 Orange Patriot, I had Marzocchi Jr-T's on which i sold and swapped for a set of 2006 Z1 lights off e-blag.

Cos its a 20mm axle, just built a new front wheel, and got it trued. fitted it no trouble, apart from the front brake!

I have old HOPE brakes, a C2 rear, and a XC4 twin pot front.
The front XC4 wiil not fit on the forks, as the new wheel clouts the Caliper!
is there a chance to rectify this cheaply by fitting a spacer and larger disc maybe? (ie adaptor IS-IS and a 203mm disc)
anybody know what larger disc would fit a Hope XC4?

cheers all
Jack D

what is the current size disc?

and you are using forks with 20mm axle and the brakes were on a QR fork?

When you say "it clouts the front wheel", how exactly is it fouling?

    Any chance of posting photos?

  • disc is measured at 150 rotor.
    old Jr-T's were quick release.
caliper "clouts wheel" in that the caliper, when mounted to the new forks, is blocking the path of the spokes..... the spokes cant rotate as the caliper is in the way.
I'm thinking by extending the caliper by fitting a 40mm adaptor, and using a 203 disc, i will still be able to use the brake?

    disc will not be 150mm

what is the number on the calliper? is it a No3? or....i guess a No5 which should be a 165mm

as the new forks are 20mm axled you will be using a 5mm spacer on the caliper?

you could as another option use less spacer on the fork and add a spacer on the hub. Hope used to do 1 and 2.5mm spacers for this.

but yes a bigger disc would help and a + what ever adaptor BUT you need to know the real disc size by the calliper number.

  • the caliper has no number, just is an XC4 (4 pistons)

what do you mean by a 5mm spacer? nothing came with the forks, nor does it mention this in the marzocchi manuals i have downloaded for the forks (2006 Z1 Lights)
