Had a blast around the Forest of Dean today on my new Pitch pro which is absolutely awesome. I noticed towards the end of the ride the rear mech wouldnt change up from the largest cog on the rear sprocket without some persuasion, i am presuming this is just a sticky gear cable but when i got home and went to lube the cable it is fully enclosed from the shifter to the mech. Does anyone know the best way to grease cables like this as i cant think of a way to get it into the housing.

more likely that the cable tension needs resetting.

Its not the cable tension, it shifts fine in every gear. Just when the cable is pulling the mech to the big cog it wont spring back down when the shifter releases some cable.
  • ok i had the same problem on my pitch pro from new!

think i know what your problem is!

my outer cable was slightly damaged internally, so cable wouldnt spring back when shifting from the biggest cog.

LBS changed the outer and all was fine, i would take it back to LBS and get them to index them before they start messing with outers!

It was fine on the first few rides, its only started doing it today.

It was a real muddy ride today though so i cant help but think some crap has got somewhere it shouldn't.

I thoroughly cleaned the drive train and still had the problem so thats when i guessed it was the cable.

Will pay a visit to my LBS though see what they say about damaged cables.
  • TBH as they are full run outers, they should not have any crap in them!

have you knocked the Bike, maybe the outer got trapped, Jagwires are not that tough!

Your right, how could crap have got in them?

Could have knocked the cable and pinched the outer, but then maybe it would be sticking in all gears not just the lowest.

Will have a good look at the outers in the cold hard light of day tomorrow.
  • i can guarantee (oh no!) that its the outer!

Hmm I have the same problem on my pitch pro sometimes - I thought it was just to do with the rear mech getting dirty/not lubricated well enough. Sometimes I have to move it by hand to get it going again and then its fine.

Its the cable housing, stuck some lube in it and now its sweeter than ever.
