Right then i'm after a new hardtail but cant decide on which to get. I have narrowed it down to 2 which are the rockhopper pro and the giant xtc 2 anyone got any views on the two to help me decide.

Standard answer - you need to ride them yourself. Find somewhere that will let you test them, round the car park at the very least.0

If it was me, i'd for the hopper. Level of kit is pretty similar. Juicy 4's on the Specialized instead of 3's, slightly differnet forks, i think. For me the hopper just looks nicer.2014 Whyte T-129S0

What about a Rock Lobster?

I bought one in 2005 and it was, is, a fantastic bit of kit.

I went for the Rockhopper (Expert 2009) which i really like, needed to tweak a little, replaced the tyres, and I felt a little to upright so turned the stem over, changed the angle of the bars but its such a nice bike, light responsive and I feel both confident (when on muddy tree root covered trails) and comfortable riding it .
Guess it always come to personal choice/preference and what you like the look of. :?0 -
I've got one of last year's Rockhopper's and think it's a top bike for the price I paid (albeit 2009 prices are higher across the board - or you get compromises on the spec). Grumsta's right: you need to test ride as much as the shop will allow and bear in mind odd bits of kit may need to be changed to customise whatever bike you buy to your liking. For instance, the Spesh Fast Trak LK tyres that come on the Rockhoppers are fine if you're lucky enough to have decent hardpack conditions on your patch; otherwise they need changing as they're comically slidey!0
