Last year (July) i bougt a pair of dhb Earnley Lycra Cycling Shorts for £14.39

If i was to buy a pair now they would cost me £23.74

Why the huge price increase?

  • I find that if they bring out a new version the price starts high in Autumn and gradually reduces through the season. They were probably cheap last tyear if they were trying to shift stock of a slightly older version.

Maybe its also the case that their DHB was relatively unknown but now with all the good press they feel that they have established the DHB line and can command a premium. The DHB stuff is very good even so.

Wiggle isn`t always the cheapest of the online retailers compared to the likes of Merlin and CRC unless they have a20% offer or you have some loyalty discount.

Weren't they a 6 panel with a basic chamois last year? Seems the ones on their site at the moment have a Coolmax chamois and 8 panel cut. Anyone know?
  • With the pound at its lowest what do you expect? This stuff is all imported.

I am more pissed off that sales are always on the rubbish that nobody wants to buy, no matter the price... or there are huge discounts on items which are not in stock

I've not found Wiggle to be competitive for sometime - unless it's old stock or the odd size they want rid of. Parkers also seem to have gone the same way of late - I used to get pretty much everything from them. I now tend to use Ribble, Merlin, and CRC.
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos
  • i find wiggle tends to be best for things like clothing and accessories, tools and a wrokstand i have bought there for example, however they do have excellent service, every single item i have ordered from them has come next day even with thier free delivery option! (this could be because i'm in Winchester and the depot is in Portsmouth)! however i find CRC and merlin, ribble etc generally cheaper for components and they seem to have more niche stuff, specialist makes and harder to find bits
Carbon fibre, it's all nonsense. Drink beer. Ride a steel bike. Don't be a ponce.

If you are after decent, cheap shorts, Ribble are doing Lusso ones for £13.95.
