Can someone who understand materials explain how a single fork is better, and also how there's no flex AT ALL which would put it out of the vertical? Aren't the stresses on the hub all wrong?

(clearly it is viable as motorbikes have been doing it for ages but I still don't understand how)

I've never understoood the lefty concept.

The single fork leg needs to be stiffer, they need a special hub to wthstand the twisting forces, and they're disc only. The result is a fork that's just as heavy as it's normal counterpart, that isn't as stiff, and that's far more limeted in brake choice.
