theres a ride in this months mbr mate, its a killer loop tho,so you would have to be fit to do it,its 21 miles long, starts and ends at the highest pub in britain (tan hill inn) tho, lol, and there is a ride in oct 08 edition of mbr, which is round old cote moor top,its 12 miles but classed as hard.....if i had any idea how to post them on here mate i would, but im not all that bright,i know how to switch pc on and type, thats about it,

Hawes is a good base, we did a couple of pretty hard loops last yeararound 40miles on the first day and around 35 on the second
  • Off to Hawes tomorrow for the whole weekend. Yippee.

The only downside to the Dales is there tends to be a lot of road work to tie in the good stuff. My parents live just outside Hawes but i very rarely venture up there to ride, maybe once or twice a year.

Horton in Ribblesdale is the place to start for the Pen y Ghent area.

There's a good tour of Pen y Ghent which you can do. It works out at about 23 miles with 3000 feet of climbing starting from the car-park in Horton.

If you'll PM me your e-mail I'll send you a copy. Of course you could always get a map and work out your own routes, the Dales is absolutely riddled with bridleways, old drove roads, Roman roads and mining tracks. None of the riding is bad, and the other beauty of it is it drains well because the underlying geology is limestone.
