Hi Guys,

Just purchased some Whey for the first time, I'm looking to bulk up - hence the reason I bought it, Strawberry flavoured but it still tastes rank. Anyone got any ideas what I can mix it with?

Currently using Body Fortress Whey + Water.

Cheers! 8)

Your mixing it with water for a start so im guessing your using it for post-workout, it will never taste nice if you don't mix it with milk. Plus strawberry is very different for each make so it could just be a poor tasting product, safe bet is chocolate!
  • orrr just dont use it. so that when you stop using it, you aren't dissapointed when you improved "muscle" wears off.

use milk definitely. I have chocolate body fotress protein and its actually nice with milk, also make sure its mixed properly. You blending or using a mixer cup?
plus you dont lose muscle unless you stop doing your exercise or dont eat. The whey aids recovery which in turn aids muscle growth. Whey does not make you muscly or defined or whatever.

no, its fact. Nothing can just 'add' muscle you have to actually do something. So i use the protein after my weights sessions to help my muscles recover for the next day since i train 4 days a week.
You may a slight bit of fat due to protein being the hardest substance to break down in the body but it wont make you ripped, massive, fat, unless you do the wrong thing and just sit around.

In lehmans terms, whey powder is highly accessible protein that the body can readily use much quicker than, say eating a steak.
When you train, you tear muscle...you need protein to repair that muscle. The more accessible the protein is, the quicker the muscle is repaired. When you tear muscle and it is built back up by the body, the density of muscle is increased....how the hell do you expect to increase muscle mass if that doesn't happen!
i suggest you figure out what your actually taking mate.... whey powder and supplemants have become so commercialised that some poeple take it without actually knowing what it does.

yes, so therefore if the protein repairs those tears is it not aidin recovery with a side effect of growth?

no..recovery IS muscle growth, not a side effect.
protein powder helps build muscle faster and larger.

your posts are pretty confusing... use correct grammar and i might be able to understand what your getting at.

I agree with bigbenj, use proper english, however, you are both saying the whey protien works, which it does.

benj is also right about what happens in recovery. also 4 times a week, how do you seperate your work outs.

lol, please tell me that is supposed to be ironic...... Asking somebody to use correct grammar and then getting it so catastrophically wrong in the same sentence is very funny!

I do a workout every other day, consisting of a 1 hour routine as set by the gym trainer.

Muscle groups have to be alternated so as to allow for sufficient repair.

Routine consists of Free Weights, Machine Weights focusing on Shoulders, Chest, Legs & Arms (basically everything) with a 10 minute warm-up on the treadmill.

I also go cycling for 3 hours practically every weekend, if I don't - I make this up by running for 40-50 minutes on the treadmill at 9.5MPH.

no thats fine as long as the muscles are altinated, i tend to do full body weights which means I need a day or two rest between each work out.

    Use this...healthier for the body.
  • most info now is saying to build muscle (lean or bulk) when doing exercise mix your protein with a carb drink and take it just BEFORE your session as this is when its best used by your body.
