Hey all,

I've got a bit of cash hanging around from xmas and have been, compulsively, looking at bikes. I've missed the sales to a certain extent, but have whittled it down to one of two bikes, both 400ish.

Saracen Mantra 3 2008

or

Mongoose Tyax Super 2009

Was wondering what thoughts there were either way? Tyax gets good reviews, as does the mantra and they both seem pretty similar. Unfortunately can't ride either.

Cheers, Chris.

Tyax is probably better for going quick but the Mantra is stronger. Also look at Halfords' Carrera Kraken which is £350 atm.

If that Mantra is the one with Toras then I'd go with that. They're much better than the XCRs you get on the the tyax and carrera

    A useful tool...
  • Thanks, I'll check out the Carrera.

Yeah, the Mantra has a Tora 289 fork, which is what swings me that way. Plus being of, the larger persuasion, the extra strength of the saracen is probably something to consider (i'm not too worried about the weight of the actual bike, my current ride is heavier than both I would think.)

    Cheers again,
    Chris
