Have recently bought some new xt shifters, and there is the option to take off the optical display so that they may be placed either side of the brakes.

I have done this but the top of the top of the shifter where the display was seems rather exposed to the elements. Is there anything that is supposed to cover up this top part because it doesnt look right to leave tjis all open?

  • I believe there is a blanking plug you can fit. mine have had no blanking plug fitted for over 2 years and are still sweet as a nut, so i wouldn't worry however. XT = Xtra Tough!!
  • Time for the super dooper high tech fix of putting a bit of black electricians tape over the hole

Yeah, my back plate was on the back of the display thing as mentioned, same with a new set of SLX I got fairly recently.
