Hi all, whilst cycling to work today i was over taken by a bloke on a blue steel road bike with a rucksack whilst i was on my Kuota
No real shame in that as i've been off the bike quite a lot due to a: the cannondale falling apart bit by bit(after long and faithful service) and b: hating the cold oh yes and c: drinking like a trooper.I could have taken him over again but due to traffic blah blah blah........
Anyhoo 2 things:
1. I think i'm guna upgrade but don't much see the point in spending a fortune on the c'dale as it was 2nd hand when i got it and is getting old (think it's 1999 r5oo cad2?) and the difference betweeen the 2 bikes is unbelievable, would you lot persevere and replace everything on the old bike (recently got new wheels but their rubbish and i have no idea about bike mechanics) Or buy another carbon bike?
2. Does anyone have any info on Somer valley cycle club as i think i'm ready to join a club but all the emails i send get bounced back undeliverable and i can't get hold of anyone, are they still operating? Do they do club runs etc? Or any info on any other clubs in the Radstock/Bath area, many thanks

Are you looking for an upgrade on the Kuota or the Dale?Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0

Not sure, i've got about 600 quid so far but my wages are not great at the moment, was thinking of maybe saving up and getting a nicer bike for summer maybe a Willier or the such with campag, as it intrigues me, but then i think am i just being stupid because the Kuota is easily good enough for what i need at the mo however i would like to try some t.t's in the Summer providing i can get my *rse back in gear which a spanky new bike is bound to do 8) I also think that because the Dale is 14 speed and has crappy wheels it's probably good for training because of the big difference does anyone know if i could get 7 speed sti's but not sora anywhere :?winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

If you're happy with the Kuota, but don't want to use that in the winter, I'd spend the money on a winter bike to replace the Cannondale, and a pair of clip on tri bars for the Kuota for TT's.Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0

I found this e-mail contact for Somer Valley CC off the BC club search page. I hope this helps:

Or just putting bits on the 'dale because i do like the old girl and i know it fits well, any opinions welcomewinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

If you like the frame of the Dale, then you could pick up a cheap groupset and wheels from Merlin or similar, and keep the finishing kit. Probably only cost you £400ish for 105 groupset and 1/2 decent wheels.
I prefer my winter bike to have full guards (nice to keep dry), which is why I sold my Bianchi, but the Be-one looks okay for the cash if you;re happy to use Race Blades. The Ribble offerings are good VFM if you go the full gurad routeCarlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0 -
Hmmmm, might have a look at ribble, not that worried about getting covered in crud but if i go out with others they might not appreciate it so muchwinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

Or maybe you could get one of those blue steel bikes,& a rucksack, like the bloke who passed you
It's not about the bikeso many cols,so little time!0 -
I actually have had a look around but they seem expensive for what they are, i really don't think it would make that much difference but i reckon i'm guna replace the group on my dale, unless i spot a uber cheap steel beast in the trade-it, hmmmmmm decisions decisions, i could even find a cheap steel beast and also fix up the dale if the price is right.....................................
Then i'll just need a Ti bike to finish the collection 8)winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg
