My host server is turning into a nightmare. The site goes offline several times a day & email stops working, etc. Customer service is worsening.
The latest story is the amount of visitors I'm getting has "overloaded the server".
Yeah. Right. I get a max. of 2000 visits a day. It's hardly got the traffic volume of www.bikeradar.com.
They didn't want to upgrade my plan and said to me that wouldn't even help with the server load... :?
*sigh*
Can anyone recommend a PROFESSIONAL and RELIABLE hosting service?
I'm looking for >99% uptime...
A company that will COMMUNICATE with me when they are doing upgrades and changing servers so I can prepare for it.

Try godaddy.com - they have been quite good for me.0

A huge shout for Riconian.com - very professional, personal service. Good rates too.
Tell him I sent you (and they'll probably charge you extra)...0 -
Umm, their site doesn't appear to be working from my end :!:0

https://www.redfoxhosting.com/
been using those for the last 2 years, no complaints, and did me a non standard deal to suit my needs.0 -
So I figured out why the server overloaded... it was all caused by a bunch of spammers running an unauthorised link farm using my own domain + host account.
Using the bits of code they used to search on google, here's the kind of thing they were up to:
http://www.aeroi.org/isat/name.php?p=17798
compare with
http://www.aeroi.org
a bunch of other sites are affected. :x0 -
The latest news is now they have suspended my acount because it was the result of a distributed denial of service attack... like that's my fault. Bunch of tw@ts---
Currently trying to resurrect the site with another, more reliable server...0 -
Similar reason to why I moved to my current hosts, my then isp shut down my account because a phpboard installation was hacked and the ip started appearing on spam blacklists, I mailed them practically every day for a week asking when they were going to get it running again but no dice. I got fed up, moved to my current hosts and because I have control of the DNS at network solutions, I was up and running again in a few hours.0

What a nightmare this is turning into... and like everyone says, stay the hell away from 3iX hosting. They're alright [cheap] for a beginner site but aren't professional enough when you start getting decent traffic (but by then you'll have realised that changing over is a bit of a pain).

I'm with WebFusion, (part of Pipex). I don't know how they compare on cost but they have been very reliable over the last 3 years since I set up with them.0
