I have just converted my MTB for road riding. I've fitted a chainring with 52 teeth and new rear cassette. What are your recommendations for the best commuting tyres?

Want something fast rolling to encourage me to use my bike for the daily commute!!

i've been very happy with continental sport contacts, and they were sold out in most online shops i tried last time i bought some which i guess means a lot of people like them as well!

Schwalbe Marathons have a good rep, there are different versions too with some rolling better than others. The main advantage though is there resistance to puncture.
  • got normal marthons on a old MTB roll well, not as PF proof as the plus but a lot lighter.

I've just fitted some Conti Ultra Gatorskins in 26x1.125 to my MTB (see the "commuting bike pictures" thread). They seem good on the test ride I did, but tomorrow is the first proper commute on them. It was raining pretty heavily and they gripped just fine.
Today is a good day to ride
  • I liked the conti sports contacts, but was getting the odd puncture. Swapped to the marathon+'s. Bit heavier but no punctures as yet.
  • Another vote for Schwalbe Marathons.

Hard wearing, puncture resistant and not too expensive. I use 1.5" on my MTB commute bike.
