Went out today in very muddy conditions and got loads of chain suck
Cleaned the bike down and discovered its time for some new chainrings to start.
Currently running shimano LX hollowtech 22/32/42
Q1. Is there a better wearing brand than shimano - I've only done 1500 miles on these
Q2. Can i change the ratio to say 22/34/42 or 22/32/44

welcome to the big fat con that is aluminium chain rings.
they should be stainless or cromo steel but then they'd sell less of them.0 -
They don't all have to be, it depends how much they get used, what alloy it is and whether they are coated or not.
Large chainrings have more teeth to divide the wear, plus the typical rider uses it 5x less than the middle ring.0 -

It often makes more sense and cheaper to buy a new chainset!
You could for example buy this:

Superstar Components will do a full set for £35, but not sure what the quality or durability are like. I'm considering a set myself.
