Hi Guys.
Some thoughts/advice would be welcome.
Buying a HKEK, well, handing the cheque over on Monday, owned a tassajara previously and was very happy.. short daliance with a cannondale F6 but saw the pics and review of the HKEK and fell in love.
Now all I need to do is figure out what to do from new if anything, spec is here http://www.fisherbikes.com/bike/model/h ... /fullspecs
two questions really... do I go to x9 straight through instead of x9 rear, x7 front and shifters as supplied, anyone got any ideas of likely cost ?
Rims are tubless ready but not sure on the tyres, is this another one to do ? happy with everything really, just thoughts.. left the lbs late last night and forgot to discuss.
If i cant get decent refund on the parts taken off I can save to use on the F6 which the wife thinks I am selling but will probably go down the skinny tyre higher gearing route eventualy.

if it aint broke why change?
the shifters i would leave as they work fine.
tyres maybe as you may need some that are suitable to the current trail conditions."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

what this guy says. Just use whats on it until it breaks to begin with. It's a waste of equipment that'll work perfectly fine for a bitStart Weight 18st 13lbs March 2009

Hi Nicklouse.
Only really thoughts, just wonder why mix of x9 and x7 (cost) would pay for the x9 if it was a worthwhile upgrade.
Tyres will be fine for what I do just thought of going tubless from the off while bike is being built0 -
Just a thought, but on the Fishers with the g2 specific geometry, having model specific forks to allow for the different trail, doesn`t it limit fork upgrade options later?
It being coil you might need to swap the spring if you are lighter or heavier than average.
X9 not much better than X7 but if you want to why not? Can buy X9 for around £50,so if LBS will do a deal on the old ones, might not be much,to swap.
Bontrager mud x tyres might be better for current conditions. The standard ones are really summer tyres.Nice looking bike BTW.2006 Giant XTC

def change the tyres. they came on my fuel ex. never found a condition where they worked well. found side walls very soft and would break away very easy.0

Hi,
Nice bike. I was about to buy one last week and had been waiting for ages. Just happened to go into Decathlon and saw a Rockrider 8.2 2009. X-9 throughout with a reba race air fork and Avid 5 stoppers.
Just a thought.

Look real nice in the flesh.0 -
Usually I like to stick up for people who want to upgrade their bikes without it being broken but thats a good bike, just wait.0

Hi Guys, thanks for all the comments/advice.... will think about tyres seriously and will forgett about the x9 thing.. spidey.. regards the fork upgrade.. if they fail I will get them welded up solid and go realy old school
Loved my last Gary Fisher and I know its sad but love at first sight with this one too0 -
Hi again,
had x-7 shifters with X-9 rear mech on my cannondale. Real slick combination.
One benefit the X-7 shifters have over the X-9 is that have a shift indicator.0 -
