Faded Red Frame Paint

Ok so on my second bike the red paint has faded to pink, I have had a red car in the past do this so didn't think it to be a huge issue (That and the fact the bike only cost 20 quid !)

However when I set to the bike with T-Cut yesterday it has no effect what so ever, I assume therefore that bike paint is protected by a thicker covering than car paint ?

Is there anything I can use like t-cut that will bring it back to a red from the pink ?

As Always Many Thanks

  • You could try a more abrasive buffing compound- can't remeber the name of it now but you'll find it in Halfrauds.

  • Or you could get some really fine wet and dry paper and try buffing that way too.

But if its got a clear coat I think you're gonna struggle to take away the pinkness...

Im tempted to sand it down and do a respray, I have quite a few old car spays knocking about, Are they ok to use?

    Red paint?

I'd have a go at respraying it. It would involve stripping it down completely, and masking up the head headset hole and bottom bracket hole. But at least it wouldn't be pink!

You could always cover it in hi viz sticky back plastic, or blackboard paint could look cool!

The "Rat look" will reduce the chance of it being stolen, at least!
