hi anyone help?

i was out on my rockhopper today, got home and noticed that the rebound adjust knob on the bottom of my fork was missing

presume its fallen off

anyone know if i can just use the nut on the bottom of the fork to adjust the rebound settings? or is my fork abit knackered now...

thanks, sd

Unlucky, rare to happen nowadays. The knob is just a 2.5mm allen key (which inserts into a hole in the foor bolt) attatched to a plastic sleeve thats fits over the foot bolt. So you can adjust with a suitable key. Don't fiddle with that bolt!

out of interest what happens if you do fiddle with that nut? I'm always tempted to take things apart if I don't know what they do. Goes with the job.

It will loosen the damper assembly and let the lubricatibng oil out. Though it does need a sharp knock as well to free off. Remove the bolt at the other side and you can take the fork apart.

SRAM has a good service guide.

Ensure both bolts are nipped up tight.

    Bad luck,

Same happened with my reba replacement ones are avaliable for from fisher outdoors, bloody expensive though at about £16. Needless to say i carry the little red knob in my camelback now.

so presumably, i can still adjust my rebound by using a 2.5mm allen key?

ok, so i try my 2.5mm allen key and it does fit and seems to adjust my rebound

only trouble is now i seem to have an oil leak

not sure whether it was leaking before i gave it a tweak with the allen key as the bike was upside down

so, is there something i can do to stop it leaking or am i looking at an expensive trip to the LBS?
