Here's the first footage of my commute (some of it). It's from yesterday morning, so it was dull, foggy and -2, so the picture is a bit dark. It's also compressed to hell, I'll try and remedy this next time. I thought it wasn't bad for my first filming attempt!

BTW the camera is mounted on the left hand side of my handle bars. I was surprised at how different the footage looks on the camera. Some of these sections I'm doing 36mph but it looks slow on the footage!!!

Feck, I'm glad I don't have an urban commute!
2 motoring offences in the 1st minute and a car vanishs on 3.27“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
Good close up of the 4x4's number plate that crossed the solid white lines!0

All I can say is that I'm very glad I don't have to live in the south east of England..0

Is the last part of it just coming into Wembley High Road?0

So about 12 miles, what's your average speed? You looked to be keeping up a good old lick there. I do 8 miles each way Wimbledon to Victoria at roughly 15-16 mph depending on traffic/lights etc0

Nice Video,
Thought you were going to go for the in between van & bus filter at abot 7mins 15 or so but sense prevailed - would jhave been good footage (hard to judge what width you had from the camera)
The overtake on the car pulling out fom the left was good, you must have been travelling cos you pulled in very soon after going past it.
What camera have you got and has it got proper handlebar fixings are something you lashed up?

Closer to 13 (but who's counting!) When the schools are on holiday I can average 18 mph (including stops at reds/junction etc) but the rest of the time it's probably around the 15/16 mph mark. If the traffics really bad it an be as low as 13 mph. There's not much you can do about it when you're filtering past miles of stationary cars!!0 -

The camera is a ATC5K. It comes with various attachments for handlebars and helmets. But TBH with the LCD screen I think it's a bit on the big side for going on the helmet.0 -

Interesting point coming up. Rule 129 of the highway code says....
129
Double white lines where the line nearest you is solid. This means you MUST NOT cross or straddle it unless it is safe and you need to enter adjoining premises or a side road. You may cross the line if necessary, provided the road is clear, to pass a stationary vehicle, or overtake a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle, if they are travelling at 10 mph (16 km/h) or less.
I'd rather he crossed the line (as he did) and give some space rather than squash me!
There's a bit of ambiguity - what does the 10mph refer to - is it the bike, or just the maintenance vehicle?0 -

I couldn't agree more. Going back up the hill (which is considerably slower) I'm always amazed at the number of people that squeeze past me so as not to cross the lines when there is nothing coming the other way. It's almost like they don't mind running YOU over as long as they don't cross the lines. Madness I tell thee.0 -

I read it as being any of those things as it says "they" rather than "it". The OP was doing more than 10mph though as far as I can tell so the 4x4 driver was breaking the rules. In any case it wasn't a clever manouevre on a curvy road with limited visibility, and it was pointless since the OP kept up with him all the way to the roundabout.
