Went into A W Cycles in Caversham today to inspect my new King 3 frame. What a masterpiece! I now have to decide what groupset to put on it. I think it will probably be Rercord.
The staff there are so helpful, such a difference from Sigma Sport.

Surely nothing less than Super Record for a King?
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

The King 3 in C+ the other month did look fabulous. 8)
With SR-11, 3T finishing kit and Racing Zeros it was smidge under £6k for the complete bike.

Please take this advice onboard, after having a De Rosa Idol I noted the following. The intergrated seat pin, make sure you get the correct size, you can't take chances and there is very little movement in that pin! Also, they have been know to fail, just Google it. I personally don't think the importer is very helpful when it comes to probplesm with De Rosa cycles! Also, with my Idol frame, when giving it some beans down hill the frame felt nervous and lacked stability. Might be OK for supper smooth Italian roads, but not the roads in the UK! Take it for a good test ride before making up your mind. They look lovely, that I will agree, but you will be living with it. Also, the paintowk on the Idol was very fragile......yes all hand painted, but not that great. In the end, I bought a Pinarello Paris, its in a different league! All the best

Thanks nicensleazy, I did have a De Rosa King that developed a crack at the point where the top tube joins the seat tube. I think with the King 3 though they have got their quality control sorted out.
I suppose in many ways it would have been more sensible to go for a Colnago EPS or a Viner Ultima but I just love the understated cool the De Rosa have cultivated. Its just such a beautiful frame.

Yes, they are lovely frames. Quite interesting, quite a few road dealers are dropping De Rosa form their range, they don't appear to be selling. Some great deals offered on the Idol at the moment. For me its Pinarello!
  • I do like the look of the King3 too. Apparently the price is due to rise if it already hasn't already done so.

Lysander - I think you mean Viner Maxima. If you want one you'll have to be prepared to wait a while - hand built means it takes a while.

To the OP: It's got to be Record or Super Record!
