I don't when it's -4 when I get up so a high risk of ice on country lanes.
You could end up with a bad dose of manflu as well
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

I hadn't either but I got out yesterday and I took a pic to prove it ...

The pond was frozen and the swans were hungry , and ultimately disappointed!

me too. Last ride was the weekend before christmas. Once the relatives left I went down with this hideous virus which confined me to the house for the entire holiday producing industrial quantities of phlegm and snot. I'm only grateful the weather was not very good for cycling.
Back at work a week now, and feel I have regained most of my lung function, the cough is only occasional, and the last of the lime cheescake mix is draining out of my sinuses. Forecast for Sunday is milder, so even if it's pissing down I'm going out!

Wimps - been riding to work all this week and got plenty of longish rides over the holidays - as Billy Connelly says; "it's not the wrong weather, just the wrong clothes!" Mind you, 6 degrees on Sunday will be positively balmy and means I can leave half my wardrobe at home..
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

not when i have bronchitis and pneumonia... well at least a nasty cold  and i was away over New Year

Seriously though just before Xmas i saw an old guy come off his bicycle because of ice in the middle of traffic, fortunately nothing hit him. And the day after i hit black ice at a junction (in the car) and eventually came to a halt halfway across the road - lucky nothing was coming. Minus 6C around ours on monday  .Roll on warmer weather.

Apparently going to be a barmy 9'C here but with gusts upto 45mph I wonder what sort of wind chill factor that has.

Was a fairly thick frost when I got out of work at nine tonight and yesterday the frost didn't let up till about 11am. Lay in on the cards. :)

Aye, said swan doesn't look particularly chuffed with you. Unless you were using a telephoto it appears you could've been in for a spot of bother.

Did you ever manage to retrieve the bike?

Hopefully I'll get out in about 10hours, going to give Bwlch Pen Barass a go if it's not icey. Last time I tried climbing it, I broke a Spoke in my back wheel, and had to walk to the top and wait for over an hour in pouring rain in just shorts and jersey to get rescued, so I determined it's not going to stop me this time.

I reckon the bike was stolen by the swan on the right, who appears to be making sure there's no-one to witness the theft......

Went out this morning at 4.48 am - temp was - 2 / - 3 - only 9.4 miles (confined to main roads due to ice on side roads) - great blast, no traffic - it was so cold that the orange squash turned to slush/solid ice bits by the end....

to hell with going out today.

It's getting colder as i type and with the moisture we had last night too much risk of black ice. Not ideal conditions either for going clipless for 1st time

    Not worth risking broken bones/bike.

Especially as my boss would probably sack me for having time off sick
