help needed for first bike

hi all i am looking at buying my first mountain bike and wanted some recommendations i am open to all views and i have looked at a few bikes i am after a hardtail and have been looking at: felt q720, scott aspect 55, giant xtc 4.5 and kona fire mountain deluxe if anyone can help me with what i am looking at or suggest another i would be very gratefull my budget is around £300-£450 thanks all :D

    i bought a claud butler d27 2008 for £380 and am very happy with it, couldnt find a bike with better specs for the price, plus it looks good

    GT Avalanche 1.0 Disc 2008 for 450£. Never heard bad words about it.

    For less money then the Scott Aspect 45 Disc 2008 has a very nice spec and only for £390.
    But that's only if you buy online, from lbs will be a bit more expensive and harder to find any 2008 modles.
