What is the URL of the GI calculator? Tried using the above as search criteria and returned 300+ pages of results :x
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Sorry, don't understand the question. I tested the above link and it worked fine. It's a Java applet, so it took little while to fire up, but it worked OK. What do you mean when you say you can't find the link when you already have the URL :?:

Personally, I use the HPV Drivetrain Analyzer.

  • Im in Edinburgh where there are propoer hills. Im fixing up a fixie and was considering a GI of just under 70. 52t upfront and 20t at the back.

    Would this merit a MTFU?

Not at all on hilly stuff you could even drop lower. Even 60-65 but it's a trade off with how fast you can spin on the downhills :)

    I had it coming...

And I have found some evidence that it may not have been the bike at all but an underlying injury from a car accident in August... we shall see...

Pity you can't make beers, I wanted to write MTFU all over your cast.

I'm a total weed, with a gear range of 16-84 GI on my Swift. I plead in mitigation that I have to ride up a brutal hill just to get from my house to the main road, and I'm extra weak first thing in the morning.

    I ride 69 too!

The MTFU should go to Jash and LiTs, thus:-

MTFU and learn to spin faster

Can't work that out as our sojourn to London I was leaving you at the lights but lost on topend when you wound the gear up. Can somebody explain in simple yokel terms.

Yes, that's got me flumoxed too.
I'd say that you are probably stronger, but having a road bike I meet with less resistance at the top end, so I can keep getting faster when you top out, I do spin quite fast too, kept up with Biondino (on a brief downhill sprint) at 32 ish last weekend which put me at somewhere between 150 and 160 rpm but that was my absolute max.

You'd probably be awesome on a roadie!

@revdee I didn't see your bike at the Christmas bash, don't know why but I thought you had a single speed road bike.

I'm running 72GI now and there's only one regular hill left for me to conquer, I just avoid all the others when i'm on the SS

I have considered fitting a white industries DOS freewheel 16/18T but wouldn't that just be gearing?

Do it, just think of the extra speed :D

Just back from a training ride and I'm pretty certain my freewheel is toast, it's gonna be fun getting that off.
