sorry if this has been discussed before, i did search but i didnt find anything on it.
i do some light freeride and quite alot of XC, and i was wondering how much use DMR V8s would be? would they be slippy when i get them or my feet wet?
just inquistive to hear about peoples past experiences with them or what people have heard about them.
thank you

Most people like them untill they try anything else halfway good.
They're okay but most people find them a bit small and only really fit feet smaller than 7 well. Try the wellgo MG-1 which has a bigger platform, has sealed bearings and is lighter than the V12 mags, they're about £30 delivered on ebay atm.
As for grippiness, pedals don't matter as much as the footwear, grippy shoes will be better on any pedal and some shoes dont play with pedals at all.0 -
I've just got a set of MG1s, and they seem great. Really grippy. My first set of flats since starting to use SPDs 4 years ago. I kept trying to "unclip" them, and couldn't twist my feet, because they were that well stuck to the pedals. They're really light for the money too.
I got them from ebay, from a shop called High On bikes. I paid £30.90 inc. P&PBoardman Road Comp '08

Another big fan of MG1s here.
I've had 3 sets of V8s and the MG1s are far superior - lighter and much more durable.
They make V12 mags look a right rip off!0 -
DMR V8's are great pedals, but I've been using Fatty Flats from Superstar Components for a few months now and they're easily as good as V8's but have much better fully sealed bearings
AND . . .
If you're quick you'll get them for just £15!

V8's are all right i my opinion. I have them on mine and are quite happy with them. I cant really see the point in paying a lot for a pair of pedals that generally get knocked about pretty quickly2014 Whyte T-129S0

CAnt comment on other pedals, but my Slim Jims are/were under £30 posted.... Its not just that tho' the V8's feel small underfoot. The Slim Jims feel bigger (and are marginally) but the shape is better and I dont feel my feet rolling off the sides anymore.0

i use v8s and they're great for me. grippy and smooth0

MG-1'S
1and a half years and still going strong, lighter and cheaper than DMR.
Oh . Oh wellgo make DMR, so you are paying for the joy of the name and heavier stuff0 -
I run V8's and can't grumble - like some people have said though, i haven't really tried anything else to compare them to. My mate is running Kona Wah Wah's and seems happy with them. They're a lot slimmer than my V8's but also a slightly bigger platform i think.0

I had V8s on mine, they did the job at a decent price but when I needed a second set of pedals I got MG-1s, and they do make the V8s look like a bad job. But teh V8s are IMO better finished, if you care about that, water got into my MGs pretty fast and now they look scabby. But they're pedals, not jewelleryUncompromising extremist0

I use V8's and they're fine at the price. No doubt there are better flat pedals out there but V8's are a sensible cheap option.Dream as if you'll live forever..........live as if you'll die today!0

If your thinking about buying them be very careful, because it just tried to buy them and accidently bought the ones for a bmx bike itstead of the XC ones
i then lubed them before finding this out!! Result one pair of Bmx pedals that cant get sent back and no bmx bike to put them on!!!Orange St4-Reba SL-FullXT0 -
Surely you could just wipe the grease off and send them back. Or buy a BMX!Boardman Road Comp '08

The V8's are greased by a syringe, internally --- so not possibly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Orange St4-Reba SL-FullXT0

What's the difference? As I ride both BMX and MTB I've used the same pedals on both without any problem. So if there is a difference I wouldn't mind knowing what it is.
Personal preference goes to Odyssey Cielencki pedals, never tried a better pedal than these. Currently running a set of Outland sealeds on my Kona and they are quite good. Believe they are Gusset Slim Jim copies?0 -
They come in two sizes, 1/2 for BMX and 9/16 for mtb riding!!! This is a real pain as now im stuck with bmx pedals and no bike to put them on and an mtb with no pedals!!!Orange St4-Reba SL-FullXT0

1/2" is only for one piece BMX cranks, 3 piece BMX cranks use 9/16". That'll be why I've not had this problem myself. I wasn't aware that V8 pedals were available in 1/2".0

Well if you ever get one piece cranks for your bike and you need pedals give us a shout!Orange St4-Reba SL-FullXT0
