I don't think frame weight is such an issue on the track - a stiff frame with light / quick accelerating wheels is probably more desireable.

The limit is the same as road bikes 6.8kg, but my road bike is 6.7kg and lighter than my Dolan track bike :D
I also have a 853 steel track bike and for bunch events not really much difference.

Track bikes have to comply with the same minimum UCI weight limit of 6.8kg as road bikes - due to the lack of components weighing them down there isn’t really a Holy Grail for light weight in frame construction. What you’re looking for in a track frame is strength, stiffness, robustness and durability, particularly for sprint duties

What CF frames are achieving is great strength and stiffness without a huge weight penalty whilst being able to add some ride compliance. When I first rode my Dolan DF3 what struck me was not just how much stiffer it felt the then my Track Champ but also how comfortable it was at a track like Palmer Park.
    I’m a sprinter – I warmed up yesterday.
