My road is a pretty good indicator of the road conditions on smaller roads around here. It's not very busy and doesn't get gritted, so if it's not icy here, it's unlikely to be icy anywhere.

A while ago, the road was clear. I got my winter bike out of the shed, and came up to start the long process of putting all my winter kit on. However, I just looked out the window again and... Blanket of snow. That'll be another day on the rollers then.

How bad is it there Chris? If it's too bad, I'm leaving work early - no way am I sitting in Birmingham traffic for seven hours like last year
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

It's only snowing very very lightly now. Road's pretty much back to being clear, but it looks like it might start again some time soon, and when it was snowing the road was fully white within minutes. I'll let you know if it starts hard again.

Haven't you got a mountain bike so you don't need to clamber out of your winter kit :?:

What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!

Yes, but I'm a bit wary about riding 10 miles to Cannock Chase on minor roads which won't be gritted when there's a chance of more snow/ice. In fact, I know there will definitely be ice in places, and it's not worth risking falling off.

My roads like this, never gritted, quite quiet in the morning and so every morning this week its been iced like kellogs frosties. Been on the cycle trainer once this week but knee pain is giving me jip so I'll wait and give it another go tomorrow.

My icy road doesnt stop people driving through at 60mph though. Just waiting for the bang, and it has happened before.
