Faulty SPD-SL R540
Hey there,
My SPD-SL R540 pedal has developed a fault. One of the springs, Number 13, here has stopped working, and as a result the binding isn't returning to it's forward position. This is causing the cleat to move around more than the float would allow.
Question is: Has anyone tried fixing these pedals? There are quite a lot of small parts, and I don't want to destroy it further. So any good advice is welcome.
Cheers
Pedro

Well, good luck. Recently took me 3 hours to reassemble a Ritchey MTB pedal due to how fiddly it was, and it's far easier to get access to the internals of them.
But I'm sure you'll be fine...0 -

I'm glad you're confident I'll be fine  My only concern is that Shimano recommends against reusing the binding pin due to the thread adhesive used on it. I'm not sure, but I think this might be to cover themselves. I'm not sure if it's the same idea as reusing a chain link.
Worst case scenario is that I'll end up having to buy new pedals, but I can't go around with a faulty binding forever..
Cheers

Don't worry about reusing the binding pin. Stick a bit of threadlock on it and it'll be fine. Check it every so often to make sure it hasn't worked loose (should do this anyway).0
