singlespeed, sort of anyway, anyone help?

anyone help me with this ? can i take outer and inner ring on my hardtail i use for work and keep 9 speed cog out back, will this work and anything else i would need to know? thanks

    sure, good to keep the front mech and set the adjuster screws to lock it out over the ring to help keep the chain on.

    this is presuming that your cranks have removable rings.

  • not sure whether it removable or not, its an old deore, well 2 year old anyway,was going to buy new chainring, cheers
  • Why not just don't use your front derailer shifter?

    Does the weight drop by removing the 2 rings make that much of a difference to the overall weight of your bike?

    Either go all out SS or use the gears you want.
