Hi

I was wondering if anyone has any tips of where I could camp near glentress? It seems all the campsites are closed for the winter but does anyone know of a one thats not? Or some wide camping spots which I think id prefer?

Cheers guys

    bbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......

I wild camped in October and that was bearable but now? Constantly sub zero up this way at the moment. Rather you than me mate.

My advice would be...just pitch up somewhere in the wilderness. Thinking about it...thats bad advice in these temps

If the guy has proper gear then he will be fine. Wild camping in the winter is beautiful and offers such an amazing experience :-)

In Scotland it is legal to wild camp, just stay off of paths and don't piss in the rivers.

Aw dont get me wrong, I woke up on the banks of Loch Lomond and the crisp clear morning skies made for the most beautiful views. I heartily recommend it.....although I dont think I will do it again because the next day, after a crap sleep, I wasnt fit for much. Probably just because I find it hard to nod off at the best of times.

Plenty of people stay up in the top car park in campervans. Can't see the problem with pitching a tent up there in one of the corners as long as the road is open and you have a very very very warm sleeping bag as it's been really cold up there when out on the bike.

    Good luck!

Ive camped in many of the 7 stanes trail heads, just pitch up be clean and tidy and dont bother any one and you should be fine. The buzzards nest car park off to the right on entering the car park is ok,just pitch next to your car, watch out for the pine needles in there.

Make sure you take a big hammer, quite hard to bash tentpegs into glaciers
