Training programme needed

I'm planning to do the C2C later this year, to give myself a better chance I need to get some sort of training plan established, not only for this but to also help me shed 3 stone in time (6 months)
Obviously I need to look at my food intake which as a whole isn't too bad, just need to loose the snacks
Anyone know of a good training plan involving plenty of cycling to help me get in shape?

well start by making a weekly schedule, don't vary from it, gradually build up to the distances you will be doing in one day of the C2C. Do a bit of cross training too.
i've started a road cycling training regimen, trouble is when it is icy the roads are a no-no so i go out on the MTB instead, have had a cold since new year tho so havn't been out yet this year. feeling much better today so will hopefully get out tomorrow when I am fully bettter.Your'e never alone with schizophrenia.0 -

I can recommend the book, mountain bike fitness training by John Metcalfe. It Is getting a little old now It first came out In 2001 but everything In It still applies and Is very useful. It's not a ornament, so ride It0

This is good:

It gives you a 16 week training plan depending on your abilities! The regular MTB rider one isn't too hard really. It'll get you fit quick without overdoing things.2007 Merlin Malt 40 -
