Hi
I'm thinking of taking my 08 Gary Fisher Hifi Pro in for a service at my LBS. I fell off a while back and it went bouncing off down the road and now the rear gears don't quit work as they should. I was thinking that geting it checked over by someone who knows what they are doing would be a good ieda before I go out on it again?
Does anyone have an idea on cost? Roughly of course as it would be good to have an idea before I phone the to book it in

Thanks.

  • shouldn't cost much, if its just the gears...£10 maybe a bit more?

    EVANS PRICE LIST

But FFS...£12.50 to fit a bottle cage!!
  • If you can't fix a bottle cage youself then you deserve to pay £12.50 to have it fitted.

go on youtube, most videos show how to fix, adjust and maintain the bike yourself...fairly easy tbh...best geting a bike stand and learning it on your own...might not get it the first time around, but it eventually creeps in... Good Luck!!

BTW evan prices are fairly reasonable if you can't do it in my opinion. Thought once you'll learn how to adjust and maintain...you'd see no point in spending that money afterwards :D

Just ot let you know, I checked everything and nothing was bent or damaged so I tried again to get them working and couldn't so I took it to the shop and they charged me £6.90 and he adjusted both my brakes as well.

So I suppose if you reall ain't sure or are having difficulty then your LBS might be the place to go, especially at those prices :)

My Lbs in cardiff tightned my gears trimmed them adjusted ect..

He said only took him a few minutes, so its free.

Carbon bars and stem fitting= £6.00

Full service with shock check front and rear and changing pads on a FS = 20.00

Anything i can't do my lbs does for free, if i just need the tools then i can use them and do it myself.

Fixing the gears is relatively easy, checking if the hanger is bent is a 3minute job with a the hanger checking tool.
