I've just bought a red one, looking in the shop I'd say the Revolution is possibly a little brighter but they do the day-glo one now as well which burns retinas...0

Funny you should say that. I have just ordered the Revolution Orange 851as all the kit I have is black looks great but not the most visible. I hate the lumi yellow kit/ hi vis vest stuff.
I fancied the green or orange Assos ltd edition opted for orange looking forward to getting my hands on it. Shop around though I saved £50 off off rrp :shock:Rock 'n' Roule0 -

The prices on Assos are fluctuating like hell. The online dealers' prices vary so much. I got the Piton (green) one and it's nice and bright.0

True. It was cycle store for me as well. I would be well pissed if I had paid 200 sheets for it.
I liked the green one too, can I ask what size you got? I'm a 39 chest 5'11 went for large.
My top half kit is Endura size medium. I haven't worn top half Assos before although I do have some of their excellent F1 shorts.Rock 'n' Roule0 -
I got a XL which is also the size of my Element One. Assos are very particular with sizing so best to try before you buy or know your size in Assos. 39 chest and 5'11" - XL could be the size for you, but there again Large might fit you. What you don't want it the thing being too loose on you.
Designed to fit tight on the wearer of course, just like all their stuff.
p.s. The green one is a thing of beauty. Love it!0 -
Unable to try before I buy:( Hope it fits, you have me second guessing now!:)Rock 'n' Roule0

Sorry mate but hey everyone is built differently eh?0

I got mine in Royles in Wilmslow (in the shop itself) for £149...0

Back on the OP.
Colours at night make no difference. Hi Vis is only worth having in the day time, you need reflective materials at night.0 -
He he, I just got a black Airblock 851 today in a medium from M Steel Cycles in Newcastle for £100.........reduced from £183.
There's still a few left in different in different sizes and colours. I don't know whether they do online but you could call them on 01912851251.
Also got an Assos Intermediate top for £75 reduced from £146!!!
I only went in for a cheap speedo for my winter bike as well

Damn big g beat me to it - yeah reflective stuff is what you need at night - whats the jacket like for that ? Failing that - bung a reflective gilet on over the top.0

I take it the AirJack and the AirBlock are the same jacket?
I like the look of the special edition ones. For slightly larger (fat) people, does the colour section at the front look a bit strange??0 -
It used to be called the Airblock then they buggered around with it and changed some colours and it's the Airjack now, but I think essentially it's the same thing.
Assos imo doesn't look good on people with stomachs or big backs. The cut is too lithe for that.0 -
Another Revolution owner here. What a great piece of kit. Looks lovely with my Revolution stinger as well.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

can i just ask - as someone who has frequently looked at Assos but always baulked at the cost - is the kit worth the money?? tights for over £200 is lots of cash in anyones book. its fine if its terrific kit. So - is it worth the cost??0

It IS very good technical gear, and has raised the bar for quality of kit all round (and the prices too)
IMHO,
there aren't any better armwarmers,
the Intermediate Jacket is often copied, but probably unsurpassed,
the F1 Mille shorts were brilliant-but many m/fs have caught up. I did see some of the new shorts at over E230 in France last year, they look very good, but one does wonder...
The Airjack/851 are benchmark products, tho' other m/fs are catching up
Wearing Assos does also make a statement-to other cyclists, and to non cyclists, though I suspect that message will be different
What statement do others think Assos makes-esp with the Airjack the OP was asking after?“It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best..." Ernest Hemingway0 -

Did 30 miles yesterday in an Airjack. Just a baselayer underneath.
What I realised was that a) I was warm enough (without being too warm) and b) I didn't feel like I had a jacket on.
My PBK Jacket is very good for £70 but the Airjack is 10 times better at just over twice the price. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)
