  • Today was an odd day - I woke up to snow all over the roads but by the time I'd left the house at midday for my ride it was just slush and water, no ice at all. In fact, I had a good ride!

The Endura Windproof gloves are my preferred gloves and today they were fine - not cold at all!

I use Pro Neoprene overshoes Tarmac I think they are called and Assos Winter socks and over the last few days have ridden in -4 deg and my feet were as warm as toast.
  • For a number of years now I have been using a pair of skiing glove liners - they are white with a sort of silver thread running through the fabric. They were bought for the kids ski trips a few years ago. Over the top a pair of very ordinary long fleece Thinsulate fleecy gloves. Despite finding both the inners and outers knocking about the house (so no expense spared), the combination works remarkably well and are not too bulky. They would not be waterproof in any way though.

Over my shoes a pair of Ozzo neoprene overshoes, which are a pain to get on but do seem to keep the cold at bay.
  • Saturday in essex countryside was cold but lovely, good bit of ice to be avoided on the sides of some lesser roads...lack of overshoes (bit of a newbie  ) BIG mistake... 3hrs in needed to rub life back into numb toes just to get home again!

No snow slap slapping the face like this morning's commute tho!

looks like endura overshoes are the way to go.... my endura winter gloves worked a treat in the cold and the snow, if anyone's interested.

    brrr.

Oh it was cold this morning. My fingers were frozen halfway into my 3.5 mile commute, i couldn't pull the brakes hard enough on one of the short steep downhills on the way in, and i had the worst hot aches when i got in.

I'm NOT giving in to the bus though :D

It's -4 here today, if I had some better gloves, something to put around my ears and some more cover for my lower arms temperature would not bother me at all. I would not go out today though, in my street you could use it to go ice skating in, the road is that icy and shiny, too much of a risk to cycle in.

It was -7 at home this morning and I had to walk to the end of the street before I dared get on the bike.

It was very cold this morning. I didn't know how cold it was til I put my son in the car to take him to school. The thermometer in the car was showing -7. Will I be out today on my bike? NO CHANCE. Hello Mr Turbo.
  • V chilly in E London this morning, didnt have a temperature gauge, but had to do a bit of ice dodging during 5mile commute - still nutters out in shorts though....
  • Been out plenty since the cold snap. Early morning commutes certainly wake you up at the mo. The only part of me that gets cold are the exposed parts on my face on downhills. Ski mitts plus silk glove liners keeping hands warm but can only use with winter bike and its down tube shifters.
