Ok So I have a couple of cheapo tesco front lights and want something better, For the time being my budget is a mere 30 quid:

I have looked on Fleebay and found the following:

Cateye EL220

Blackburn Quadrant ( I have the Mars 3.0 rear )

SMART BSPOKE 1 WATT

What would you experts suggest out of those, Or feel free to throw me a curve ball and add something else into the mix.

Cheers

fenix torch might do it, they are pretty powerful for around £30-35.

Fenix is a far better choice over the "bike brand" lights.

    Definitely worth the slight extra.

worth bearing in mind with the fenix's though is the extra cost of the mounting block, usually another £5 or so. they are fantastic lights but if you are fixed with the budget then they might not be quite what you are after.
  • Cateye EL220 is ok as a back up or as a permanent flasher on the road but its not the greatest on unlit pathways, can't help with the others sorry.

If you are on a very tight budget, the Tesco LED torches are said to be good, or a good Fenix subsitude is this one from Dealextreme, costs $20, comes from Hong Kong, they are a very good dealer and put any problems right, just delivery takes 8 or 10 days. It is the nearest you'll get to Fenix performance under £30, it needs a Lockblock mount (£7) and rechargeable NiMH AA batteries (£4.95 from Vapextech).

The Cateye will be a waste of time for seeing where you are going.
