Hi all,
First post so be kind....LOL
Just bought a new MTB from Wiggle, its only a cheapie.
Bike is a FELT Q220.
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/Felt_ ... 360032858/
I went mountainbiking for the first time last weekend around Epping Forest and got caked in Mub, but the bike stood up well and i was impressed by it.
However on my return i notice that if i sit on the bike or put pressure on the handlebars that my forks do not move at all.
If i push my front wheel gently against a wall then they do move.
There is a + & - switch above the right stem of the fork and no matter what i do with this its the same thing.
Forks are:
NEW Suntour XCF M2025 75mm travel, Pre-load, internal Spring, Alloy Crown, STKM Stanchions, Steel Lowers, includes Mini boots Disc-Brake specific.
I cannot find them on Suntours website.
Anyone any ideas if this can be fixed or should i look at either sending the bike back or upgrading the forks (if so what too?).
Many thanks in advance
Paul

Send them back, or contact wiggle. Might need a service, or could be a fault.
I will be honest with you, it is a poor fork, so if you could upgrade, I would!0 -
thanks Supersonic,
I emailed Wiggle this morning and not had a reply as yet.
Been looking at other forks on the net, seem very expensive almost as much as the bike.
I'll wait and see what Wiggle say (a shame my wife through the box that the bike came in away)
regards

Wiggle are atrocious when it comes to replying, I sent them an email on Monday, no reply.
Decent forks can be had from about 100 quid, such as the Tora, and some good deals on ebay. Would be the 1st thing I upgraded.0 -
Just for info, according to Suntour and other web sites, the M2025 forks fitted to the 2008 Q220 are 63mm travel not 75. Info here http://www.srsuntour-cycling.com/SID=si ... ps_send=go
http://www.bike-shed.com/products.php?plid=m1b66s2p2378

My advice would be to get Wiggle to repair or replace them under waranty for now, and save up for a new fork. You may even be able to talk them into a discount on a new fork IF it turns out that their description was incorrect. However please note that there could be other variations not mentioned on the Suntour web site.

many thanks for the information Marv,
I also spotted the 65mm on other websites and others say 75mm.. all very confusing.
I'm still waiting for a reply from wiggle.

as the forks are OE they can be any spec that the bike makers ask for hence the 65 and the 75... bet there are some 100mm ones out there (heaven forbid)."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Terrible fork if your serious about mountain biking upgrade to something better IMO
If your wanting something similar try these http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/id35017.html
or if you want something with longer travel and the geomtry of your bike will suit i'd try these http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/id32050.html
if u do decide to upgrade go for coil over air0 -

Tora would be a better option than the dart. And the pike will not fit the wheels. Air is lighter and more tunable - depends what you want.0 -
Im not sure what other people thought of them but my 2007 MX Pro's on my old hardtail were fantastic once id set them up right and the best forks iv used for £120. Smooth through all the travel and great on singletrack. In my opinion far better on the small stony stuff than my 36 vans.Dave0

Plusher and less hassle....can take more abuse easier to service thats IMO0 -
If it is anything like the stock Suntour fork that was fitted on my bike, it will be like riding on a road bike. Upgrade to something better if you don't mind spending the money, otherwise learn to live with the hard ride.0
