HYBRIDS ROCK

Check out this link for a cool hybrid. I know there are not a popular choice for mode of transport but I think the latest hybrids have had some good makeovers and they are now making some good bikes. The spec' is good, the brand names are their and prices reasonable.

Top range hybrids are like old skool MTB without the suspension but with all the latest components. Hybrids have also been described as flat bar road bikes. Hybrids have: speed, comfort, good riding position, handling skills, good braking power and a nice paint job. The Boardmans have some tidy Ritchey gear too
Whatever they are I think hybrids rock because you can use them for all-terrain surfaces and generally they have no complaints. A very versatile bike.

The main downside to MTB with skinnies is that the rims take allot of stress because they were not designed for that use. MTB were designed for fast chunky tyres with loads of air in them.

The main downside to road bikes is that they only excel on the roads. The main downside to MTBs are that they only excel off-road. A hybrid is a middle of the road bike so can handle roads and light off road use and can pretty much excel at everything.

So here is my link and tribute to one of the latest and greatest hybrids to hit the shop floors.

I think we have an attention seeking troll on the board. So, from now on, I'm going to follow a simple rule: DON'T FEED THE TROLL.

    It depends on the frame.

If it's a lightweight frame eg the Giant CRS then no you can't as the forces involved would rip the fork and frame apart. If however you have a slightly heavier frame more akin to a MTB then you can as the frame and forks will have been strengthened arround the mounting areas.

  • Hybrids cover such a broad church from the flat bared roadie to slick mtb and more commonly the shopper. More utilty than rock it has to be said. Though there are rocking ones.

I used to like the Marin ones a few years back. They don't seem as cool these days.
  • I would love too see Orange do a hybrid at the £1500+ range. Should be real impressive - oh and dont forget the Hope lights on it either - it would be real horrorshow.

    Dear Orange

I am one of your greatest fans and would love you to release a hybrid with all top quality components.....................

    Yours faithfully
