I'm still getting pinchflats/snakebite punctures, run my tyres around 40psi for general xc and light freeriding. Bought geax ultralite tubes and had 2 punctures in 2 weeks, front and back. Have maxxis minion kevlars to replace nokians as i thought it might be too thin sidewalls? Not fitted the maxxis yet, but i'm wondering if tubes are just too thin? Dont want to add yet more weight to my bike, can anyone recomend a tube that is light and bit more puncture resistant?

Try normal i.e. non ultralite tubes. Or go tubeless.

From Maxxis Welter 2.1", I've put Maxxis Freeride for 2.2-2.5" tires in my rear Highroller
2.1" and no pinchflats so far.
Btw it's 295g, 65g more than the Welter.

And I only put at the rear, I'm too soft at the front, so no need there.

Might just do that, freeride type ones i think, there are only 150g heavier than what i'm running now, prob worth it for extra protection!

Specialized boggo ones are meant to be pretty good.

just by cheap ones i ride tesco tubes everyday and get less punctures than with conti ones
Dont you just love Marin's...i sleep with mine
  • Personaly just now i ride with standard bontrager tubes from Alpine Bikes, and these seem to be fantastic, i have had no problems!!!!

Check your rims. Take your tyres and innertubes out and run your finger round the inside of the wheel. There might be a little rough or sharp point that is causing you to puncture. Someone who rides for the club i do had the same problem. A bit of wet and dry solved the problem.

I've put a standard specialized one in the back now, done one ride with at 45psi and so far its been ok!
Will see how many rides it lasts!
